Another ‘Final Destination’ is coming... but WHY!?

ree

Hollywood, I’m tired. THE WORLD is tired.

New Line just will not let this franchise die. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the company is set to reignite the dying flame in the Final Destination series - with Saw's Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan at the helm.

If you've been living under a rock since 2000, here's the gist of it:

Right before a major accident, some lucky soul has a That's So Raven vision of what's to come but can only save the lives of a small group. Death then gets pissed and starts killing everyone who should have died with tanning beds and broken coffee mugs.

There's a total of five movies in the franchise but none really offer anything remarkable- especially the later installments. I feel like adding Melton and Dunstan as writers to the new movie doesn't add much. The reboot will just be unnecessarily complicated and the kills will be more grotesque. That's it. And THAT is not worth $10.90 plux tax of MY check.

In order to make this something to watch, there has to be a revamping of the whole "Death is play hopscotch with our lives" concept. Like, I want to see Tony Todd (who will forever be Candyman in MY mind) as the Grim Reaper stalking this group - hiding in someone's bathroom or laundry basket. Or just scrap everything and do an adaptation of the anime Another (look it up).

I guess I'll wait for a trailer to see if the reboot is able to drag the series back from the dead.
