Here we go again...
Netflix has proven time (Death Note) and time (Bleach) again that it can not be trusted with anime adaptations. Imagine my shock and horror when I learned they were taking yet another swing at the genre with one of the most beloved shows ever drawn.
Yes, Netflix is making a live-action TV series of Cowboy Bebop. According to the company, the creator of the 1998 anime Shinichiro Watanabe is being brought on to consult. The first season will be the standard 10 episodes, with Thor: Ragnarok's Chris Yost writing the first episode.
While I'm skeptical for its success, I'm hoping making the anime a series rather than a movie will help keep it close to the source material - something that should have been done with both Bleach and Death Note (though I can list MANY reasons why those two should never be watched).
Netflix hasn't released a premiere date so be sure to check back here for more updates!
